Relieving Pain. Restoring Function.

Evidence-Based Rehabilitation

Custom Physical Therapy is an outpatient physical therapy practice treating a broad range of physical conditions.  Our number one priority is you, the patient.  We provide personalized treatment with hands-on, compassionate care.  We do not rush our patients or our clinicians.  Rather we perform comprehensive evaluations and encourage your input for treatment planning and goal setting.

Our philosophy is to provide you, the patient, with the highest quality, evidence-based therapy through personalized care and education. We support creative and individualized interventions. Our personalized approach promotes patient comprehension and quality care to secure the best outcome for each patient. We believe that in order for a full return to your active and healthy lifestyle, you must be involved in your care and educated in your recovery process.

Our highly trained staff treats every patient as if he or she is a family member or personal friend. We would be grateful for the opportunity to assist in your recovery,

At Custom Physical Therapy we focus on exceeding each patient’s expectations in:

  1. The fun factor (laughter is good medicine!).
  2. The clinical factor (superbly trained physical therapists).
  3. The professional factor (yes you can be fun AND be professional).
  4. Customer service of the entire organization.

“The success of Custom Physical Therapy is based on positive word-of-mouth from our patients to their family, friends, co-workers and their doctors.  I believe this is the reason for our growth.  This could not possibly be without my staff (they simply rock!) who make this organization a really fun and professional place to be whether a patient or employee.” – André Meintjes, Clinic Director, Partner

We accept most insurance including Medicare.

André Meintjes, MPT, Ph.D

André opened Custom Physical Therapy in 2002 after working in the Reno-Sparks area in outpatient orthopedic physical therapy for 5 years.  “I decided to start a private practice because I had specific ideas as to what physical therapy should involve – the best way to achieve one’s own dreams is to get out and make them happen.  The core philosophy of Custom Physical Therapy is to treat each patient the way we would like to be treated.”

Born in South Africa, André came to the USA to study in 1988 with plans of returning home after graduating with his Ph.D. in Physiology.  Twenty plus years later, “I guess I found a new home and a great one too.  We are incredibly lucky to live in America.”  He has been living in the Reno-Sparks area after graduating from Texas Women’s University with a Masters in Physical Therapy.

His approach to treating patients is to address the cause of the problem and provide each patient with preventative measures so they can remain fully functional and pain free without seeking further medical advice.  “That being said, we have a lot of returning patients who come back to see us for other conditions needing rehabilitation and we love seeing them again.  Our patients become part of Custom.”

Can I choose where I want to have therapy?

Yes. The choice of where you receive therapy is always yours. While the majority of our patients come to us by physician referral/recommendation, many clients request to see us due to our strong clinical reputation in the community.

Do I need a physician referral to receive therapy?

We operate in a direct access state where, if your insurance plan authorizes self-referral to physical therapy, a physician referral is not necessary for you to be seen by a licensed therapist. Please check with your insurance though as many health insurance plans require a physicians referral for therapy to be covered. We also offer treatments, services and/or products that do NOT require a referral and are available on a self-pay basis.

Does your facility accept my insurance?

We participate in the majority of major health insurance plans including Medicare and Worker’s Compensation. Please contact us prior to your first visit to see if we participate with your specific health plan.

Does your facility submit claims to my insurance company?

As a service to our patients, we will gladly file claims with your insurance company on your behalf. In order to appropriately submit these claims, we will need to obtain a copy of your insurance identification card to ensure that we have the necessary information.

Your First Visit:

Your therapist will conduct an evaluation of your condition lasting between 60-90 minutes. The evaluation is necessary to create a program designed specifically to address your needs for a maximum recovery.

What do I bring on my first visit?

– Referral slip from your medical doctor
– Your medical insurance card
– Your ID
– If you are getting therapy as a result of a worker’s compensation claim or an automobile accident, you will also need to bring your claim information, including claim number.

Please arrive 15 minutes early on your first visit to fill out any necessary paperwork.

What do I wear?

We recommend comfortable clothing such as sweatpants or shorts, a T-shirt or tank-top and sneakers.

How long is each visit?

Each visit will last 60 – 90 minutes on average. Times vary due to the treatment and exercises being performed.

How often do I go to treatment?

The regularity of your visits will be determined after your initial evaluation, but most patients have 3 visits each week scheduled.
